MARGARET D. SCHEUNEMANN

Easter Lily      Margaret D. Scheunemann, 98, Burlington, died Aug. 11, 2015, at Pine Brook Pointe. She was born in Iron Ridge, on Sept. 8, 1916, to the late Rev. Philip and Selma (Frank) Koehler. She spent her early life in Iron Ridge and Milwaukee where she graduated from Lutheran High School before attending Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minn., earning a BA in education.

On June 20, 1942, she married Horace A. Scheunemann in a ceremony that was performed by her father. Following marriage they made their home in Kenosha before moving to Burlington in 1955. He preceded her in death on Nov. 16, 2006.

She worked as an elementary school teacher, teaching grades K through 4. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, St. John’s Mission Society, member and past president of Burlington Business & Professional Women’s Club, and belonged to Jolly Seniors Bowling League for 29 years.

Survivors include her grandchildren, Crystal (Paul) Rauch and Joanna (Richard) Schwartz; great-grandchildren, Sean and Patrick Schwartz; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her son, David Scheunemann; brothers, Rev. Herbert Koehler and Lt. Comm. Philip Koehler Jr.; sisters, Irmgard (Steve) Grey and Sally (George) Swanson.

The family is asking that memorials go to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon.

Funeral services are Friday, Aug. 14, at noon at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Burlington, with the Rev. Kirk Lahmann presiding. Visitation is at the church on Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be private. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
