MARTHA U. VOGT

Easter Lily      Martha U. Vogt, 98, Waterford, died peacefully at Waterford Senior Living on July 31, 2015. She was born in Racine on May 28, 1917, to the late Henry and Hilda (Streich) Ulmer. She spent her early life in Racine and Milwaukee where she was a graduate of Custer High School.

In October of 1940 she married Bernard Vogt who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1980. They lived in Milwaukee for seven years and moved to Waterford in 1947. In their early life they loved to dance. She was a seamstress for Burlington Mills for many years. On the farm in Waterford she enjoyed mowing the grass, spending time with her dogs or enjoying a nice glass of champagne.

Later in life she was introduced to volunteer work at Love Inc. in Burlington and enjoyed her time there. She will sadly be missed by family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan Mealy, Connie (John) Silko and Toni (Josef) Ritter; a son-in-law, Dennis Nudi; grandchildren, Todd and Matt Mealy, Nicole Nudi and Perry (Beth) Nudi; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Nudi; son-in-law, Michael Mealy and brother, Carl Ulmer.

A memorial gathering will be held from 10-11 a.m., with family prayers and eulogy at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 West Main St., Waterford,.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials are suggested to Wisconsin Humane Society/Racine Campus.

The family wishes to extend a ‘thank you’ to the doctors and staff of Waterford Senior Living and Hospice Advantage for their special care of Mom, and also thanks to the Home Helpers of Burlington. A special ‘thank you’ to dear friends Kevin and Maria Spaight for being a friend and helping Mom with the farm lawn mowing and other chores.
