Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run crash

The Racine County Sheriff’s department is looking for a suspect in a hit-and-run collision that injured a Waterford bicyclist early Tuesday morning.

Shortly after midnight, sheriff’s deputies responded to a collision on Highway 36 between a car and a bicycle about a half-mile north of West Loomis Road.

The victim, 38, had been riding his bicycle south on Highway 36 when he was struck from behind by a dark-colored vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene.

A black passenger-side mirror was found at the scene. The bicyclist suffered a broken collarbone, a bruised hip and minor cuts and abrasions. He was taken by Wind Lake Rescue to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa, and later released.

The investigation is ongoing, and the Racine County Sheriff’s Department is asking anyone with information call the communications center at (262) 886-2300.
