Ethel E. Baumbach, 100, Burlington, died Aug. 16, 2015, at Arbor View, Burlington. She was born in Merrill, on Aug. 31, 1914, to the late Robert and Ida (Schreiber) Grefe. She spent her early life in Merrill where she attended school.
On June 1, 1935, she married Carl P.L. Baumbach. Following marriage they made their home in Merrill. Following Carl’s death on July 1, 1967, Ethel moved to Burlington in 1980.
She was a homemaker who loved being a mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Survivors include her children, Judy (Vic) Woyak, Jeanne (Marty) Jahnke, Joanne Shaw, Carl Baumbach Jr. and Joy Doepke; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Wendland.
She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Olson; grandson, Jeffrey Olson; great-granddaughter, Stephanie Berges and numerous sisters and brothers.
The family would like to thank the second floor staff at Burlington Hospital, the staff at Arbor View and Aurora Visiting Nurse Hospice. Thank you so much…you were a blessing to us.
Services are Saturday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with the Rev. Arlen Solem officiating. Visitation is Aug. 22 at the funeral home from noon until the time of service.
