JOANN E. EBBERS

Easter Lily      Joann Ellen Ebbers, 81, died peacefully at her home on Aug. 25, 2015. She was born Aug. 1, 1934, in Lyons Township, to the late Arthur and Ellen (Grady) Raduenz.

She attended St. Mary’s Grade School and The Red Brick School in Lyons, graduating from Lake Geneva High School in 1952. Following graduation she worked at the First National Bank in Lake Geneva.

She married William A. Ebbers Nov. 3, 1956, at St. Joseph’s Church, Lyons. They had four children, Robert, Patricia, Susan and Joseph. They built their home in Burlington in 1960 and that is where Joann lived happily for the remainder of her life. Bill preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1993.

She was an amazing wife, mother and friend. She was always there for her family. She was incredibly proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. She enjoyed bowling, flying with Bill, spending time with her family and friends. She traveled with her husband to London, Paris, Ireland, Rome, Greece, Alaska, Hawaii and throughout the United States. She enjoyed spending time in the North woods of Wisconsin. Some of her favorite past times were reviewing cookbooks, gardening, golfing and going out for lunch after shopping. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Robert (Ann) Ebbers, Burlington; daughters, Patricia (Donald) Andersen, Franksville, and Susan (Nordehl) Unbehaun, Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Karen Ebbers, Burlington; her grandchildren, Jacob Schmalfeldt, Justin Schmalfeldt, Michael (Amber) Ebbers, Taylor Ebbers, Billy Ebbers, Bobby Ebbers, Gabrielle Unbehaun, Grace Unbehaun, Jonathon Ebbers, Jenna Ebbers, Christopher Andersen, Kelli (Jordan) Laufenberg; great-grandson, Maddox Laufenberg; her sisters, Dorothy (Bill) Kautz, Joyce (Dave) Fiegel, Barbara (Dan) Cynor; many nieces; nephews; and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her son, Joseph W. Ebbers; brothers, Edward Raduenz and Richard Raduenz; sisters-in-law, Joan Raduenz, Joan Ebbers, Dorothy Slein, Margaret Ebbers; brothers-in-law, Fred Ebbers, Jim Ebbers, James Slein, William Wermeling and Lawrence Henning.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held Aug. 28, from 4-8 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 S. Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.

The family is suggesting memorials to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
