Delores M. Schenning, 95, of Wheatland, passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015, at Aurora Memorial Hospital Burlington.
Born in Wheatland Township on March 10, 1920, she was the daughter of August and Martha (Kaddatz) Neuman. She has lived in the Wheatland area her entire life where she attended school, graduating from Burlington High School.
On May 20, 1939, she united in marriage to Rodell C. Schenning. Delores and Rodell lived on a farm in Wheatland where they raised their family. Rodell preceded her in death on July 22, 2008, after 69 years of marriage.
Delores was a homemaker and was a lifetime member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slades Corners. Delores was never content sitting still and was always busy helping out at church and on the farm, along with gardening and canning.
She is survived by her children, Deanna (Richard) Larsen, Linda Schenning and Donald Schenning; grandchildren Dean Larsen, Dawn (Mark) Sitter, Debra (Bill) Ladd, and Ryan (Katie Jo) Schenning; great-grandchildren Kevin and Kurt Larsen, Rosie (Jon) Paulson, Renee Ladd, and Holly and Scott Sitter.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Milton Schenning and sister-in-law, Margaret Schenning. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters Marcella Steffen and Margaret Welch; daughter-in-law Gail Schenning and great-grandson Ty Sitter.
The family asks that memorials go to St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid or the charity of your choice.
Services for Delores will be Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Slades Corners with Rev. Jeff Halldorson officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, Sept. 10 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Burial will be private.
