Man arrested on roof of school

Racine County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old Waterford man on the roof of Woodfield Elementary School, 905 Barnes Dr., Waterford, Monday night.

The teen told deputies he was on the roof to retrieve a ball, according to a press release issued by the Sheriff’s Office.

However, during their investigation, deputies discovered the teen had unloaded firearms in the trunk of his car, which was parked on school property.

Sheriff’s officials said there was nothing to indicate students or staff are in danger and school opened on schedule Tuesday. School officials were kept informed about the incident as it unfolded, the release said.

The teen, who was cooperative with deputies, was taken to the Racine County Jail and the sheriff’s office is seeking charges of criminal trespass and possession of a firearm on school property, the release said.
