EVAN W. WIECHMANN

Easter Lily      Evan W. Wiechmann, 81, Burlington, died Oct. 4, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Neenah, on July 6, 1934, to the late Henry and Erma (Eldred) Wiechmann. He spent his early life in Menasha where he graduated from Menasha High School before attending UW–Whitewater.

On June 28, 1958, in Rio, Wis., he married Jean Adams. Following marriage they made their home in Oshkosh, Plymouth, Grafton, and Wausau before moving to Burlington 43 years ago.

He worked with the Burlington Area School District as the business manager. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as president and treasurer of the council, sang in the choir and served as an usher. He loved his family and his dogs. He was an outstanding athlete in high school and college, especially in football. He was a high school business teacher and enjoyed coaching. He was always active in church life and was a charter member of Grace Lutheran in Grafton.

Evan and Jean loved to travel and enjoyed going to Arizona during the winter months. They also had a cottage ‘up north’ that was greatly enjoyed by all the family. He was an avid golfer and bowler, enjoyed playing cards and could always be heard cheering for the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years; children, Connie Powers (Rollie) Mohawk, Jim (Judy) Wiechmann, Cathie Zimmerman; grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Powers, Carolyn Powers, Caitlyn (Dennis) Neel, Caileigh Zimmerman, Connor Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Colton and Samuel; his siblings, Wayne (Patt) Wiechmann and Joan (Doug) Schneider; brother-in-law, Bob Adams; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Haider and his staff along with Aurora Hospice, especially Jutta Rupe, for their wonderful care and compassion.

Services are Monday, Oct. 12, at noon at Peace Lutheran Church, 349 Wegge Court, Burlington, with the Rev. Daniel Vojta officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Oct. 12, from 10-11:45 a.m. Burial will be in Ohio Cemetery in Rio. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.

The family asks that memorials go to Peace Lutheran Church.
