RAYMOND L. HAHN

Easter Lily      Raymond L. Hahn, 75, Burlington, went home to be with Jesus on Oct. 5, 2015, after fighting a courageous, yearlong battle with cancer, at Memorial Hospital of Burlington.

He was born June 7, 1940, to the late Paul and Emma (Schuster) Hahn in Amery, Wis. He was the 14th of 15 children.

He married Patricia A Symoens of Franksville, on April 29, 1960, in Woodstock, Ill.

He graduated from Amery High School in 1958. He attended a school of agriculture in Madison in late 1964.

He had resided in Milwaukee, Sun Prairie, Grayslake, Ill, Genoa City, Salem, and the last 27 years in Burlington.

He enjoyed camping in many states and passed on the love of camping to his son and daughter. He loved to play with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attended many musical events where his grandchildren played an instrument or sang. He would drive three or more hours to see his two children march by in two minutes.

He always had a dry sense of humor and a smile on his face no matter how difficult life was and referred to his cancer as “it is what it is.”

People often saw him walking through Burlington, on his three-mile hike, stopping for a strawberry sundae at Pine Street Café, and greeting friends along the way.

Survivors include his wife; children, MaryBeth (Jim) Taylor and Brian (Jonni) Hahn; grandchildren, Katie (Bruce) Gritten, Rachel and Rebekah Pflueger, Brittany (Richard Goodfriend) Hahn, Brian (Janae Miner) Hahn Jr., Tiffany (Brandon Gordon) Hahn, Brian (Kat) Holm and Koda (Brandon L.) Gordon; great-grandchildren, Lukas, Christopher, Elizabeth, Zachary, Scarlett and Jaxson with one more due in March; siblings, Louis (Doris) Hahn, Walter, Albert (Lois) Hahn, Mildred Spindler, Ruby (Jim) Potter, Gloria (Ray Amdahl) Powell, Joe (Sharon) Symoens, Joy Symoens; and nieces and nephews.

He was further preceded in death by siblings, Augusta, Rose, Edna, Henry, Ethel, Clarence, Esther and Melvin; brothers-in-law, Ed, Martin, Clarence, Howard, Richard Symoens and David (Fran) Symoens, and his faithful dog, Molly.

Services will be held at Burlington United Methodist Church, 857 W. State St., on Friday, Oct. 9, at 7 p.m. Visitation will be at the church from 5-7 p.m. before the service. The Rev. Ebeneezer Insor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Ridge Cemetery, 6211 38th St., Kenosha, on Saturday, Oct. 10, at 11 a.m. Integrity Funeral Services, Waterford.

There will be a dinner held at Pine Street Café, 141 N. Pine St., after the burial. Memorials may be given at Burlington UMC or Aurora Cancer Center, Burlington.

Thank you to Dr. Haider and Katrina and their staff for compassionate treatment for the past year. Thank you to Memorial Hospital of Burlington for caring for Ray and his family during his brief stay at the hospital.

A special thank you to Taw Meh and Dr. and Molly Ellingstad for helping Ray and Pat through this difficult year. Remember as Ray said, “Life is what it is, focus on Jesus.”

Dear Pat and Family, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Ray (husband and dad). You are right I did see him walking in Burlington. We are sorry that we cannot make the visitation or service. We will be in Marshalltown IA visiting my mom who is 93. Our prayers and thoughts go out to you. Take care. Perhaps we could meet up sometime if you feel like talking. Harriett
