County courthouse evacuated over bomb threat

The Racine County Courthouse has been evacuated and will remain closed until 1 p.m. Monday due to a bomb threat.

The threat was made about 8:27 a.m. today and Racine County Sheriff’s officials responded by evacuating the building in downtown Racine, according to a news release issued by the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s personnel and county staff were conducting a thorough search of the building Monday morning.

The release said the sheriff has launched an “intensive” investigation to find the person responsible for the threat.

In an update issued at 11 a.m. Monday, sheriff’s officials said they have identified the location where the call making the threat came from.

Sheriff’s officials have dealt with a rash of bomb threats in recent weeks. All but today’s threat occurred at area schools.
