CARROLL E. SPENCER

Easter Lily      Carroll E. Spencer, 87, Burlington, died Nov. 15, 2015, at Holton Manor, Elkhorn. He was born Dec. 8, 1927, to the late Fred and Alice (Besecker) Spencer in Delavan. His early life was spent in Delavan where he graduated from high school and was captain of his high school football team.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1945 through 1947. On Feb. 29, 1952, he married Marjorie Lee Owen in Crown Point, Ind. Following marriage, they resided in Burlington where they raised their family.

He had worked as a state trooper for the Wisconsin State Patrol for 25 years. He enjoyed restoring old cars and motorcycles, flying model airplanes, traveling by RV, working on model railroads and operating his ham radio.

Survivors include his wife; children, Michael (Dawn) Spencer, Burlington, Brian (Kim) Spencer, Goodman, Kevin (Jenny) Spencer, Seymour; grandchildren, Joshua (Sara) Spencer, Jacob (Shannon) Spencer, John (Casey) Spencer, Christopher (Rhonda) Spencer, Andrew Spencer, Kevin Spencer, Elizabeth (Brad) Spencer-Wigginton; great-grandchildren, Keegan, Hannah, Gillian, Leah, Iris, Charlie and David; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his siblings, Wardell, Beulah Doll, Perry and Frederick.

The family would like to thank the staff at Holton Manor, Rainbow Hospice and Dr. Paul Webber and staff for their care and compassion.

Memorials, in honor of Carroll, may be made to the Wisconsin Troopers Association, 4230 East Towne Blvd. #322, Madison, WI 53704.

Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 21, at 2 p.m., at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with Chaplain Larry Williams officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Nov. 21, from noon until 2 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial is Monday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m., in Burlington Cemetery.
