After a much-needed renovation was completed earlier this year, Riverview Manor apartment complex in Burlington has pulled in a handful of awards as a result.

The Wisconsin Council for Affordable and Rural Housing recently announced that Riverview won its annual Property of the Year, Site Manager of the Year and Maintenance Person of the Year awards.

Site Manager Eileen Olson said that WI-CARH keeps Riverview informed of all changes and conditions with real estate, as well as law changes. But this year, Olson decided to participate in the awards process as well.

Olson, along with several tenants, nominated the property back in September. The announcement was made at the state convention in the Wisconsin Dells two weeks ago.

Olson was named Site Manager of the Year and maintenance employee Victor Rubach earned Maintenance Person of the Year.

“It is nice,” Olson said. “I’m not surprised, because our tenants are extremely pleased with all the changes we’ve made.”

Olson said that she started with 10 copies of the nomination process – and had to reprint it twice.

“I knew there were a lot of tenants nominating one of the three – or all three of them,” said Olson.

The renovation at Riverview Manor involved a $1.48 million loan from the USDA Rural Development department. All of the 92 units were remodeled, with 60 receiving new refrigerators and 50 new stoves.

New flooring and carpeting were also added, plus handicap-accessible work was done in 14 total units.
