William ‘Bill’ Spiegelhoff Jr., 82, Burlington, died Nov. 22, 2015, at Pine Brook Pointe. He was born in New Munster on April 28, 1933, to the late William O. and Eleanor E. (Steffen) Spiegelhoff Sr. He grew up in New Munster where he attended school, graduating from Wilmot High School.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War.
On Sept. 29, 1956, at St. Charles Catholic Church, he married Joan C. Lois. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington where they raised their family. Joan preceded him in death on Oct. 21, 2012.
He worked for J.W. Peters as a batch plant operator. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards and gardening. He could always be seen at McDonald’s enjoying his morning coffee with his friends. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his children, Sue (Jeff) Kojis, Kim (John) Kuchenbecker, Bob ‘Buck’ Spiegelhoff; grandchildren, Taylor Kojis, Matthew Kuchenbecker and Megan Kuchenbecker; siblings, Monty (Betty) Spiegelhoff, Keith (Carol) Spiegelhoff and Lynn Sebo; cousin, Jane (Orval) Volbrecht; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Arthur Rein, Amy and Tara from Gentiva Hospice, Seasons Hospice and the numerous caregivers from Pine Brooke for all their compassion and care.
Mass of Christian Burial for Bill will be Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church. Burial will follow the service at St. Charles Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be at the church on Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, is serving the family.
