STANLEY D. HEILIGENTHAL

Easter Lily      Stanley D. Heiligenthal, 79, died unexpectedly, at his residence, Feb. 2, 2016. He was born Oct. 30, 1936, to the late Donald and Mildred (Martin) Heiligenthal in Burlington. His early life was spent in Lyons, where he attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Burlington.

On April 19, 1958, he married Jean Smetana at St. Thomas, Waterford. Following marriage they resided in Burlington where they worked and raised their family. He was in the National Guard from 1955 to 1969 retiring as a Captain. He worked as a plumber/pipefitter, Local 118, for Vorpagel Service retiring in 1998.

He was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish, a member of Wisconsin 32nd Infantry Division, member of the Catholic Knights and served as a Boy Scout Troop 334 leader for many years.

He was very active in the community, he coached youth baseball for years, was the recipient of the Burlington Kiwanis Frank Tobin Award for youth services in 2011 and the recipient of the Eugene VanderBeke Award for his devotion to Catholic Central’s Athletic Program in 1999-2000. He was also a very active member of the Building and Grounds Committee at St. Mary’s, always available to help out.

Survivors include his loving wife; children, Bruce, Burlington, Charles (Sue), Greenville, Tenn., David (Debra), Burlington, Kim (Russ) Olsen, Burlington, Patricia (Paul) Weidert, Belgium, Julie (Joe) Kmiec, Pleasant Prairie; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Janet (Robert) Todd, Janice (Paul) Webberson, Donna (Pat) Busch, Roger (Mary); sister-in-law, Marg; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his brother, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Helen.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to the Catholic Central Athletic Association or St. Mary’s Building and Grounds.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 6, at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim Volkert officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Friday, Feb. 5, from 4-7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Burial will follow service in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
