JEFFREY A. WILHELMI

Easter Lily      Jeffrey A. Wilhelmi, 67, Madison, died Feb. 2, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born March 28, 1948, in Racine, to the late Helen and John Wilhelmi.

He graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in Racine, and attended UW–Whitewater before serving in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972.

He married Kristine Ebert on Oct. 2, 1970, in Burlington.

For 38 years he served his community as a police officer for the Town of Burlington and the City of Sun Prairie. He was a proud member of the Burlington Rescue Squad.

An avid sports fan, Jeffrey enjoyed playing golf, as well as watching the Packers, Badgers, Cubs, and any teams coached by his son, James. In his retirement he kept busy with his beloved grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 45 years; children, James, Winston-Salem, N.C., Tara, Madison; grandchildren, Taran, Tiasia, Tiana, Tara Jr., and Andres; sister, Lillian Dougard, Racine; nieces and nephews.

He was further preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Rodgers; brother, Alvin; sisters, Joan Gottfredsen and Patricia Wilhelmi; and numerous in-laws.

A Celebration of Life service will be celebrated Sunday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m., at the VFW Post 9362, 349 S. Walker Way, Sun Prairie. Inurnment will be held this spring at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C. with Military Rites accorded. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Informed Choice Funerals, Madison, is serving the family.
