VINCE A. AHLER

Easter Lily      Vincent Aloysius Ahler, 84, Algonquin, Ill., went home to the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Feb. 7, 2016.

He was born, raised and worked on his family farm near Lyons, for over 50 years. He was active in their parish of St. Joseph’s (later St. Margaret Mary), Knights of Columbus, and various social groups.

Vince and his wife, Rita (Fritsch), raised their three boys on the farm until they retired to Coloma, in 1984. Passionate about dairy farming and working with his hands, Vince continued creating useful household items in his workshop and attending various farming expos for the next 20 years. Together they enjoyed traveling and spent many days taking train trips, cruises and driving vacations.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years; sons, Dan, Lake Geneva, Tim (Jamie), Huntington, W.V., Jerry (Amy), Algonquin; brothers, Clete (Marilynn), Fritz (Judy); sister, Clare; grandchildren, Richard, Carissa, Justin, BreAnna, Alyssa, Kevin, John; numerous cousins; nieces; nephews and friends.

Visitation is Friday, Feb. 12, 10:30-11:30 a.m., with a funeral Mass and luncheon to follow at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin, Ill. Vince will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Lyons. Willow Funeral Home, Algonquin, is serving the family.
