Traffic stop results in drug charges

A Waterford man who was clocked speeding in Wind Lake April 3 is now facing felony charges after police allegedly found heroin on him.

Eric Sonnichsen, 31, was charged in Racine County Circuit Court April 4 with felony drug possession charge as well misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sonnichsen has a prior history of drug possession and paraphernalia possession, according to the criminal complaint, as well as two drunken driving convictions.

According to the criminal complaint, Sonnichsen was pulled over on South Loomis Road for doing 50 mph in a 35 mph zone.

When Sonnichsen got out of the vehicle and was searched, the officer allegedly found a small packet and syringes, as well as cooking apparatus that the officer recognized as heroin and its paraphernalia.

The drug was tested and allegedly came up positive for heroin. Sonnichsen was transported to the Racine County Jail.

He was also given three municipal citations related to speeding – two in the Town of Norway and one in the Town of Waterford.
