ROLAND S. FISCHER

Easter Lily      Roland S. Fischer, 88, Burlington, died April 26, 2016, at Alden Meadow Park in Clinton. He was born July 5, 1927, in Plymouth, to the late David and Nellie (Kolste) Fischer. He spent his early life in Plymouth where he attended school. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Sept. 27, 1950, he married Georgia A. Hahn at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Appleton. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington where they raised their family. Georgia preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1989.

He worked as a welder with J.I. Case and was a member of Cross Lutheran Church. He was a very independent man and took great care of his home and his yard for the last 26 years. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix and was always willing to help anyone who needed assistance.

Survivors include his son, Wings (Kay) Fischer; grandchildren, Tina Chanda, David (Carrie) Fischer and Raven (Steven) Fischer; and great-grandchildren, Alex, Caitlin, Amanda and Nathan.

He was further preceded in death by his son, Richard (Joanne) Fischer; three brothers and three sisters.

A special thank you to Bob Meyer and Dan Buckets for their companionship; neighbors, Jim and Terrie Heinsohn; Dr. Sergiy Georgiyev and the staff at Burlington Hospital, Alden Meadow Park and St. Croix Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided.

Visitation is Friday, April 29, from 10 a.m.-noon at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with burial to follow in Burlington Cemetery.
