Rose Marie Stern, 89, died April 26, 2016, at Lakeland Health Care Center, Elkhorn. She was married to Ralph E. Stern for 68 years. They lived in Lyons for 57 years where they raised their three children. She was a very devoted wife and mother.
She gave selflessly to the church in Lyons, worked at Walworth County Fair and volunteered with Meals on Wheels for nine years.
She was kind hearted, soft spoken and had a friendly smile for everyone she met. She loved to travel with her husband on Jones Bus tours. She loved to garden, sew, bake and do puzzles. For many years she and her husband went polka dancing on Sunday afternoons. They were well known by the polka enthusiasts and even the bands they danced to.
She loved to cook and bake for her family and was often seen dancing in the kitchen as she prepared meals. She loved holidays with Christmas being her favorite. She enjoyed decorating the house and was eager for her family to come home for the holidays.
Survivors include her husband; children, Ruth LeFeber, Cassville, Roberta (Ken) Patnaude, Lake Geneva, Richard (Patricia), Elkhorn; grandchildren, Jeremy Patnaude, Platteville, Brian (Allison) Patnaude, Dubuque, Iowa, Ronna LeFeber, Edgerton, Wade LeFeber, Cassville, Chris Stern, Elkhorn, Sarah (Aaron) Herzfeldt, Menasha; great-granddaughter, Erin Herzfeldt; brothers, Delbert and Orville; sister-in-law, Helen; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services are Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m., at Lake Geneva United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Heather Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the Summit Cemetery, Town of Summit. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until time of services. Steinke Funeral Home & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
