WARREN F. RANKER


Warren F. Ranker, 73, Burlington, died Jan. 27, 2012, at his home. He was born on Feb. 26, 1938, in Burlington, to the late Frank and Dorothy (Miller) Ranker. He had been a lifetime resident of Burlington and a graduate of Burlington High School. He had gone on to attend the Milwaukee School of Engineering for refrigeration and had also earned his pilot’s license.

On June 17, 1961, at Spring Prairie United Methodist Church, he married Ethel J. Licht. They made their home in Burlington and had celebrated 50 years of marriage.

He worked as a refrigeration service man for Bigelow Refrigeration, Real Refrigeration and Advantage Refrigeration, retiring in April of 2004. For 45 years he was a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.

He was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church and served on the Burlington Water Commission. He grew up on a farm and like his father loved gardening. He loved fishing and ice fishing and had been an avid deer hunter. In high school he played basketball and was given the name “Honker” which many still called him today. He enjoyed driving the kids around on his red scooter.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years; children, Lynn Deabler, Jeffrey (Vicki) Ranker and Michael (Rosemary) Ranker; grandchildren, Madeline Deabler, Christopher, Noah, Alexander and Matthew Ranker; siblings, Kenneth (Viola) Ranker, Frederick Ranker and Alice (Gary) Keyes; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marjorie Ranker, Alice Anderson, Duane Licht, Russell Licht, Esther Lois and Millie Umnus.

He was further preceded in death by his brothers, Elliot who died shortly after birth and Glenn and Edward.

Visitation is Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 4-6:30 p.m., with services at 7 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Chaplain Lawrence Williams will officiate. Burial is Wednesday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. in Burlington Cemetery.
