WALTER T. PEPER


Walter T. Peper, 89, Burlington, died Jan. 28, 2012, at Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation, formerly Mt. Carmel Medical Center.

He was born May 29, 1922, in Reedsburg, to the late August Sr. and Anna (Hasz) Peper. He spent his early life and received his education in Reedsburg.

On Nov. 10, 1951, in Sauk County, he married Hattie L. Dzbinski. Following marriage they made their home in Rochester. She preceded him in death on March 8, 2001.

He had worked for Howe Silo Company and had been a former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Waterford. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, Packer fan and Brewer fan. He enjoyed gardening and was known for his green thumb as well as his strong work ethic.

Survivors include his children, Joyce (Charles Sr.) Roeglin, Kenneth (Patti) Peper, Timothy (Irene) Peper and Daniel Peper; grandchildren, Brandon Newby, Christopher Peper, Tommy Peper, Michele Peper, Alissa Henz, Alijah Peper, John Peper, Amanda Peper, Charles Roeglin Jr., Jason Roeglin,; three great-grandchildren; siblings, LeVern (Verdi) Peper, George (Beverly) Peper, MaryAnn (Hank) Koenecke and LaVera (Edmund) Krey; sisters-in-law, Marge (Dave) Meyer, Judy Dzbinski, Roma Dzbinski; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his son, Thomas; granddaughter, Angela Peper; and brothers, Ray, Harold, Leonard and August Jr.

Visitation is Saturday, Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Corrine Denis will officiate.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred Care & Rehabilitation for all their care and compassion.

  1. My condolences to Slim’s family.
    Slim launched my carreer as a silo builder when I started working on his crew in June 68, right out of high school. He was a hard working family man. I admired him and I learned a lot from him in the couple of years that we worked together.
    He also had a least a thousand jokes. I can still hear some of them today in my head when I think of him. great Guy!
