Accusations of a speeding bus driver went viral last week in Racine County.

The video, taken by a concerned parent whose child rides the bus, caught the bus going 60 to 65 miles an hour in a 45 zone, and was picked up by various news outlet.

Lysbeth Hintz, co-owner of the bus company, said Tuesday that the driver remained on suspension pending the results of a Racine County Sheriff’s Department investigation.

She would not identify the driver, but said he was an experienced driver of nine years with the company.

Hintz said she was made aware of the incident by others.

“Somebody called me and told me it was on the Internet,” Hintz said.

She said there is a level of trust involved with drivers.

“I’m out there all the time and observing people,” Hintz said. “I know how long it takes to do these routes.”

She said it’s hard to tell whether the incident was a one-time situation or not.
