MARY J. ERICKSON


Mary Jane Erickson, 96, Burlington, died Jan. 31, 2012, at Kindred Nursing & Rehab in Burlington.

She was born May 21, 1915, in Mooresburg, Tenn., to the late Adam and Charlia (Debord) Trent. She spent her early life and received her education in Mooresburg.

On Oct. 3, 1936, in Kenosha, she married Albert Erickson. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1975.

She worked in food service at Burlington Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1982 and was a member of Burlington United Methodist Church. She was an expert seamstress who also enjoyed quilting and was known for her chocolate chip cookies.

Survivors include her children, Charlotte Dyson of Burlington, Jerome “Gomer” (Penny) Erickson of Burlington; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was further preceded in death by two sisters and son-in-law, Wayne Dyson.

Visitation is Friday, Feb. 3, from 4 p.m. until time of memorial service at 6:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The Rev. Marjorie Rice Myers will officiate. Inurnment will take place at Union Grove Cemetery at a later date. Memorials to Burlington United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice are suggested.
