SHIRLEY M. MERSHON

Easter Lily      Shirley M. Mershon, 77, Burlington, formerly Lake Geneva, died May 7, 2016, at her home. The former Shirley Mary Baumeister was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Lyons Township, to the late LaVerne and Loretta (Raduenz) Baumeister.

She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School, Burlington, in 1956. In 1985 she married Richard Mershon in West Allis. He preceded her in death on June 26, 2011.

She and Richard enjoyed time together traveling with their camping trailer. She also enjoyed playing the organ and spent a lot of time knitting and crocheting.

Survivors include her children, Debra Newman Bertrand, Olathe, Kan., Dawn (Bob) Newman Obenauf, Salem, and Duane Newman, Milwaukee; grandchildren, Kyle, Katie, Angie and Jenna; great-grandchildren, Owen and Jake; sisters, Lucille (Stan) Albrecht, Vernetta Fabian, Darlene Park and Elaine Hullman; brothers, Ken (Dee) Baumeister and John Baumeister.

She was further preceded in death by her grandson, Keith Obenauf; sisters, Ruth Malec, Judy Whalen, Sue Evans and Rita Mooney; brothers, Bill, Lester and Tim Baumeister.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 4, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 148 W. Main St., Lake Geneva. Father Jim Scheurman will officiate. Visitation is Saturday, in church, from 9 a.m. until time of services. Inurnment will be in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Union Grove. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are requested in Shirley’s name to the American Heart Association. Derrick Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Lake Geneva is serving the family.
