Update: Name released in Yorkville fatality

A 43-year-old woman, who deputies say was attempting to retrieve her dog on Highway 11 in Yorkville early Tuesday morning, and was struck and killed by a semi-trailer truck, according to a news release issued by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

Later in the day, the sheriff’s department identified the woman as Amy Krenzke, from the Sturtevant area. The dog was later located unharmed and returned to the family.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene of the incident in the 15800 block of Durand Avenue at 3:04 a.m. They immediately attempted to render first aid until rescue personnel arrived, the release said. The woman was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, Racine, where she was later pronounced dead.

“At this time it appears that this is an unfortunate accident,” the release states.

According to officials, the driver of the truck is cooperating with the investigation.
