Burger King reopens

The Burger King restaurant on Highway 36 in Rochester reopened last week less than 24 hours after a grease fire shut it down.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department sent out a news release May 27 afternoon, saying fire departments from Rochester and Waterford responded to put out the small fire.

Employees and customers were evacuated safely, and the damage was confined to a small area.

An employee at the restaurant confirmed that Burger King reopened about 11 a.m. Saturday morning, and calling the fire department was a precaution.

A dollar amount for the damage is unknown. The owner of the restaurant is currently out of the country.
