Robert E. Funk, 92, died June 13, 2016. He was born in Caledonia on June 21, 1923, to the late Ernest and Marion (Geisner) Funk.
He graduated from Racine County Ag School in Rochester in 1942. He then joined the Marine Corps and served three years overseas in the South Pacific during World War II.
In April 1945 he married his high school sweetheart, Helen Hanson. Robert was an International Harvester Co. parts man and salesman for dealers until he purchased his own dealership in Elkhorn. He was a member of Norway Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife; son, Randall; daughter, Susan; one grandchild and several great-grandchildren; his sister, Maxine (Richard) Zimmerman; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Karen) Hanson and Ralph Frost; sisters-in-law, Mary Hanson and Donna Hanson; nieces; nephews; cousins and many friends.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Paque; brother, John (Glennis) Funk; brothers-in-law, Don Hanson and Wayne Hanson; and sisters-in-law, Jean Frost and Olene (Russell) Johnson.
Visitation is Monday, June 20, from 10-11 a.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m., at Norway Lutheran Church,6321 Heg Park Road, Wind Lake. Burial in Norway Hill Cemetery will follow services. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials be made to Norway Lutheran Church. Mealy Funeral Home, Waterford, is serving the family.
