Roughly 30 minutes or so after Tuesday’s state semifinal victory, Burlington’s leading hitter, Bryan Sturdevant, who recently graduated from Burlington High School, caught up with Southern Lakes Newspapers.

Sturdevant knocked three hits in the 9-0 win over Green Bay Preble, and he added another hit in the quarterfinal win Tuesday morning, pushing his total to 51 for the season, a school record.

On Tuesday night in Appleton at the home of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, Sturdevant urges the city of Burlington to drive the two hours to Fox Cities Stadium Thursday night at 6 p.m. for the WIAA Division 1 state championship game against Arrowhead (29-2).

The Demons (24-5) are in their first state title game in school history, and Sturdevant said he and his teammates have dreamed of this moment since they were kids.
