Injured identified in vehicle collision in Yorkville

Injured include three JV softball players

Four people were injured Wednesday evening when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway U and 2 Mile Road in the Town of Yorkville.

The three occupants of a 2003 Dodge Neon were members of the Union Grove junior varsity softball team, on the way to the team’s season-ending banquet. One member is critically injured, taken by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital, according to a press release from the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

According to that release, the 58-year-old driver of a Honda SUV, Samuel Han failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and struck the Dodge, driven by Taylor Skendziel. She had to be extricated from the vehicle, and was flown to Froedtert with life-threatening injuries.

One of Skendziel’s passengers, Charlee Warner, was transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin with serious injuries, while the third passenger, Sadie Regep, was taken to Wheaton All-Saints Hospital in Racine with minor injuries. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help Skendziel’s family with expenses.

Han was transported to Wheaton All-Saints Hospital in Racine and treated for minor injuries.
