ROBERT W. UHEN

Easter Lily      Robert W. Uhen, 81, Burlington, died peacefully on June 18, 2016, at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Milwaukee. He was born in Burlington on Sept. 26, 1934, to the late William and Adelheid (Bracker) Uhen. He was a lifetime Burlington resident where he attended St. Charles Grade School and graduated from St. Mary’s High School.

On Jan. 22, 1955, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, he married Janet M. Lois. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington where they raised their family. She preceded him in death on Nov. 28, 2014.

He began his career working for Lee Cook, Lavelle Industries and then went to Wilson-Richter Oil Co., retiring after 37 years of loyal service. He enjoyed going for a ride, Friday night fish fries and breakfast after church on Sunday. He was great for teasing and telling jokes to his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed all time spent with his family.

Survivors include his children, Lois (Larry) Cramer, Kay Uhen and Louann Hartmann; grandchildren, Angela (Jason) Hansen, Brian (Crystal) Cramer, Laura (Adam) Brulz and Rebecca Hartmann; great-grandchildren, Coi, Ty and Alina Hansen and Bryce, Evan and Alex Cramer; brother, Herb (Marge) Uhen; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by siblings, William Uhen, Rose (Leo) Germann and Florence (Bernard) Vogt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Charles Church or St. Charles School would be appreciated.

A special thank you to the Rev. Jim Volkert, Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington emergency room staff, Flight for Life and St. Luke’s ICU for their wonderful care, compassion and prayers.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 20, at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Burial was private in St. Charles Cemetery. Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Burlington, served the family.
