A new gazebo, access to the Fox River and paying homage to the village’s history are among the features included in Ten Club Park’s concept plan, which has received backing from municipal officials.

With expertise from such consultants as engineering firm Kapur and Associates, Waterford staffers and Village Board members have been looking into a series of logistical changes at the venerable green space.

A pivotal step in the multi-year planning process occurred June 13 when the Village Board gave the green light to proceed with a so-called concept plan document that lays the framework for the new features within Ten Club Park.

“I think we’re getting the best,” Trustee Don Houston of the plans.

The park’s concept plan coalesced as results from a recent survey were revealed. Village Administrator Rebecca Ewald said nearly 400 residents, business owners and organizers took the survey.

Plans call for the new gazebo, replacing a similar structure that was razed a few years ago, featuring a stage area for special events. An outlook area onto the river also is a highlight of the plans.

The concept plan has been forwarded on to the Wisconsin Main Street program for further review since the park is in a historic, primary thoroughfare in Waterford.

“Due to the location of the park in the Heritage District and downtown, the site has all the key elements for the Main Street program’s review,” Ewald said.

Several infrastructure-related events are tied to the revamp of Ten Club Park, most notably the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s planned 2019 reconstruction of highways 83 and 20.

Other smaller scale activities include a required rebuilding of seawall under the park’s bridge and changes to a nearby parking area along Elizabeth Street.

Full details of the concept plan can be viewed on the village’s website at www.waterfordwi.org/10ClubSurvey.
