Kathleen Elizabeth Schmidt, 63, died May 14, 2016, at Veterans Hospital, Madison, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born June 6, 1953, in Burlington, to Elmer and Viladene Schmidt.
She grew up in Waterford and worked numerous jobs in Burlington before joining the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. Kathy had a lifelong interest in horses and music.
Survivors include her son, Phillip (Laura) Schmidt, Waunakee; grandson, Damien; her mother, Waterford; sisters, Elaine Butler, San Francisco, and Ellen Schmidt, Burlington; brother, Todd (Janis) Schmidt, Waterford; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father; stepfather, Myron Uebele; and brother, Richard.
Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, Altoona, served the family.
