The Burlington Town Board is looking into the purchase of a bucket truck to aid the highway department. No price on the truck was mentioned, but the Board stated that the Highway Department was not to exceed $30,000 at its meeting July 14.

The town is looking to purchase the truck used from a company in Edgerton. According to town staff, there are no existing problems besides an oil leak, which will be fixed if the truck is purchased.

The board also briefly discussed the growing problem of Bohners Lake seaweed becoming more and more prevalent, and looked into suction weed harvesting. The board pushed this item to next month’s meeting.

The board then discussed payment for changes at Town Fire Station No. 4. All together, the payment will be around $855,000 for a number of different things.

“They did work for part of the parking lot, and vehicle exhaust is being done by the town,” said Town Administrator Diane Baumeister, who was also appointed the town’s treasurer at the meeting. “We took the price off the plan because we found a cheaper place to get it from.”

The Board then went on to discuss a water drainage problem at Lakeshore Drive and Park Street. Water is not properly draining, and is causing small floods near a home.

The homeowners asked the town if something could be done about this. The Board replied “this is a town problem” and that money to fix said problem will be taken from the town’s salt budget, which is the budget that buys salt for the roads in the winter.

The last thing the board discussed was parking concerns at Fire Station No. 2 for the upcoming election.

“Because of the way the lot is set up, people will have to be able to not park in front of the fire trucks,” said Baumeister.
The old Winkler school, which is now an apartment complex, has been working with the board, and has agreed to open their lot up for the election.

The Town Board also tabled discussion of a chicken ordinance until a later date.
