BREAKING_NEWS

According to information received by City of Burlington staff, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be making another change to the intersection of Highway 83 and South Pine Street.

The intersection, which has had two fatal accidents in less than a year, will gain full green arrows at the intersection, versus just one direction of the four. Changes will also be made at the Highway 11 intersection on the bypass.

“When it goes to red, there’s no more turning at that intersection at all,” Mayor Jeannie Hefty Sunday. “You’re not going to have a yellow.”

The turn arrows at Highway 11 will be solid green as well. Hefty said no speed changes are have been determined at this time, but could be addressed later this fall.

Hefty announced the change Friday, but was still finalizing details.
