With progress being made on plans for a new Burlington Community Pool, a “Party at the Pool” fundraiser scheduled for Aug. 27 is moving forward.

An anonymous donor has stepped forward to award a matching grant for up to $25,000. All money raised will go to helping fund expenses for the community pool. According to organizers, the goal is to establish an endowment fund that will help sustain operation of the current pool and any replacement facility that may follow.

A $20 ticket for the event will include a meal of hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, chips, cookies and homemade desserts, as well as the first drink ticket. A cash bar will be open from 5 to 9:30 p.m., with live music from 7 to 8 p.m. and from about 9 to 10:30 p.m.

The break will be for the live auction being held. There will also be a silent auction from 3 to 7:30 p.m.

A free family open swim will be from 1 to 4 p.m.

Tickets for the event are available at the Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, the Community Education department at Burlington High School, the Coffee House at Chestnut and Pine and the pool.
