Waterford senior Stephanie Rank had to fight for every single one of her 16 points Friday night, but when she rebounded and put back her own miss of a free throw, Rank scored her 1,000th and 1,001st points.

Rank’s performance helped lead the Wolverines to a 64-44 victory. Emily Golon finished with a game-high 19 points for BHS, but no one else had more than six for the Demons. While Rank was being triple-teamed at times, Alyssa Helwig added 14 for the Wolverines, while Kristina Kamer had 11 and Megan Jensen eight.

In sports action Thursday, the Burlington/Badger/Wilmot gymnastics team put up the state’s highest-ever team score in winning a dual meet against Westosha Central/Union Grove. The score of 148.975 eclipses the mark set by Racine Combined at the 2004 WIAA Division 1 state meet.

Also on Thursday, Union Grove rallied from a 14-point third-quarter deficit to defeat Burlington 59-54. The game was broadcast live on My24, and the television audience saw the Broncos take their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter and hang on to win.
