ELIZABETH GROSSMAN

Easter Lily      Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Grossman, 91, Burlington, died Aug. 17, 2016, at Arbor View, Burlington. She was born at home, in the town of Raymond on Feb. 11, 1925, to the late Richard and Margaret (Jung) Babe.

She grew up in Caledonia/Town of Raymond area and graduated from Union Grove High School.

On Aug. 19, 1944, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Caledonia, she married Robert Grossman. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1977.

She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. Betty and Bob owned and operated Grossman’s Grocery Store. She later worked as a receptionist at the Burlington Clinic for many years. She loved traveling around the world with her Senior Citizens Group. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, baking, gardening, knitting and needlepoint. She was a kind, sweet and gentle soul and was well loved by her family and many friends. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, Gerald (Ara) Grossman; daughter-in-law, Joy Grossman; grandchildren, Robyn (Lance) Nowak, Maren (Matthew) Keeler, Adam (Mingming) Grossman, Christopher (Shirin) Grossman and Amanda Grossman; great-grandchildren, Scarlet Keeler, Sadie Keeler, Sophia Keeler, Nick Nowak and Layla Grossman; siblings, William (Jean) Babe, Richard (Joyce) Babe, Carol (Loren) Barth; brother-in-law, William (Jean) Grossman; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Elizabeth Grossman; son, Thomas Grossman; and brother, Robert (Rose) Babe.

The family would like to thank the staff at Arbor View Assisted Living and Allay Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.

Services for Betty are Wednesday, Aug. 24, at 6 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington, with the Rev. James Volkert officiating. Burial is Thursday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Kristin Rice officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the funeral home Aug. 24, from 4 p.m., until the time of service.
