LORETTA I. DEMANT


Loretta Isabelle Demant (Dellis) 82, Yorkville, died Feb. 4, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Racine, with her loving husband and family surrounding her.

She was born May 18, 1929, in Crivitz, to the late Joseph Gordon and Frances Agnes (Grabowksi) Dellis.

On Dec. 26, 1950, she married Roy Demant. They lived and raised their family in Yorkville. During her early years, she was a telephone operator, a maid and nanny for the owners of Miller Brewery and subsequently the Dean of Marquette University. When Loretta and Roy started their family, she devoted her life to her husband and raising their seven children.

She was an avid genealogist tracing her family back seven generations. The intimate stories that she discovered will live on for generations to come.

Survivors include her husband; sons, Lee (Patty), John (Linda), Daniel, Gerald, Larry (late Sharon), Jay (Gisele); daughter, Judith (Michael) LaFrania; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Judith (the late Richard) Rogers; brother, James Dellis; brother-in-law, Jack Kruchten; sister-in-law, Nancy Dellis; brothers-in-law, George (Elna) Demant, John Demant; sister-in-law, Joyce (Roger) Kaiser; many nieces; nephews; other relatives, and friends.

She was further preceded in death by siblings, Germaine Zisky, Carmella Kruchten, George Dellis; brother-in-law, John Zisky; and granddaughters, Terra and Elizabeth.

Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. at Miller-Reesman Funeral Home, 620 15th Ave., Union Grove. The Rev. Russell Arnette officiated. Burial is Monday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.

The day which we fear as our last is but the birthday of eternity.
