Burlington man hit with fifth drunken driving charge

A Burlington man was charged with his fifth drunken driving offense after an incident Sunday.

Scott Robinson, 34, was charged Monday in Racine County Circuit Court with operating while intoxicated – fifth or sixth offense, general alcohol concentration enhancer.

According to the criminal complaint, a City of Burlington police officer saw a vehicle deviate from its lane while turning onto Beloit Street at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday. According to the officer, all four tires crossed over the centerline.

The officer stopped the vehicle, and identified Robinson. According to the officer, Robinson’s breath smelled like alcohol, and Robinson allegedly told him that he drank “a lot” before driving.

Robinson allegedly failed two separate field sobriety tests, and the officer reported that Robinson’s balance was too poor to safely try the one-leg stand.

Robinson allegedly registered a .18 on the portable alcohol breath test, and was taken to Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, where he allegedly consented to a blood draw at about 4:10 a.m.

Those results are not yet available.

According to the criminal complaint, Robinson had four different drunken driving convictions between August of 2005 and November of 2009, as well as two separate operating after revocation convictions, related to drunken driving, in 2011 and 2014.

Robinson also has several other criminal convictions on his record, including bail jumping, disorderly conduct and domestic violence charges.
