The Burlington boys soccer team is enjoying the exact opposite of last year’s winless campaign.

With a 3-1 victory at home over Kenosha Christian Life Tuesday night, the Demons improved to 4-0 this season.

Marco Hernandez and Jarred Kohout scored first-half goals to give the Demons a 2-1 lead, and Colin McLaughlin tacked on a goal to extend the lead in the second half.

Andrew Zeman and Gerson Soto tallied assists for Burlington, which hosts Milton on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Last week, the Demons beat both Cudahy/St. Francis and Faith Christian to improve to 3-0 on the year.

“It’s a huge positive to get off to a good start,” Coach Joel Molitor said. “It builds confidence and belief in what we’re doing and the way we’re trying to play as a team.”

On Aug. 25, the Demons beat Cudahy/St. Francis by a score of 6-0. Soto was the leading goal scorer for the Demons with three goals. Derek Morrow scored two goals while Jarred Kohout scored one goal in the win.

Hernandez led the team in assists on Thursday with two. Ryley Wilkomm, Thomas Burinda, and Kiernan Bieneman all had one assist apiece as well.

“I’ve been very impressed by all my guys, to be honest,” Molitor said. “There were several that put in hours and hours of work every week this summer, and they’re seeing the results of that effort.”

Soto continued his dominance on Saturday in the 5-0 win over Faith Christian. The senior scored two goals in the first half to help the Demons get their third win on the year.

“The captains and the other upperclassmen have been instrumental in our good start,” Molitor said. “They’ve been committed from the first day, working hard and setting a good tone.”

Zeman, Hernandez and Carter Lang all pitched in a goal in the second half to seal the win. Goalkeeper Joseph Gabor had two saves in the win.

“We need to keep improving on defense: We have experienced defenders, but we still have some bad habits to work out,” Molitor said.

Trevor Mann led the team in assists Saturday with three. Hernandez had one assist in Saturday’s win.
