The Burlington Jaycees “Off the Hook” ice fishing derby is now off the schedule.

Due to unsafe ice conditions, the Jaycees announced Monday that the planned ice-fishing part of the event was canceled. However, the party and raffles will still take place Saturday at the Waterfront restaurant.

“It is unfortunate that we had to cancel the fishing portion of the derby, but safety is our number one priority,” said club President Justin Mueller. “This has been a strange winter so far, and the Jaycees are not the only ones that it has affected.”

The event at the Waterfront is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. The club will be doing raffles all day along and drawing the winner of the 50/50 raffle after 4:30 p.m. – and then continuing on with more raffles.

Mueller stressed that tickets are still for sale. Tickets can be purchased at RE/MAX Properties, Reineman’s, The Burlington Chamber of Commerce or Meinen’s Bait and Tackle.

Tickets will also be available the day of the event. The tickets are still $2 or three for $5.
