EDWARD A.P. BERBERICH

Easter Lily      Edward A.P. Berberich, 76, Fort Myers, Fla., formerly Burlington, died unexpectedly on Sept. 24, 2016, in Parkville, Mo. The sudden loss of Ed is difficult to comprehend. He suffered a heart attack in the middle of the night while spending a weekend with his beloved granddaughters. Although he suffered no pain, the grief by his family and friends is immeasurable. If life is a challenge, Ed accepted it with kindness, generosity, reliability, laughter, and ingenuity. His laugh, bad jokes, inventions, gadgets, expert hand, fanny packs, fishing stories, golfing prowess, opinions, snoring, brandy and tonics, and grand persona will be greatly missed. He was simply a man anyone would be proud to call husband, dad, grandpa, uncle, cousin and friend. His family will celebrate his life and take solace in the fact that he is truly ‘out and about’ with them for the remainder of their days.

He was born April 27, 1940, in Chicago, to the late Edward and Carol (Bunge) Berberich. He attended Chicago Lane Tech and furthered his education at Milwaukee School of Engineering.

On May 31, 1969, he married Beverly Jane Goetz at Norway Lutheran Church, Wind Lake. Following marriage they made their home in Burlington where they raised their son.

He worked for NEL Frequency Controls for 42 years as a manufacturing engineer. In his spare time he enjoyed golfing, fishing, frequenting car shows with his ’63 T-bird convertible, and spending time with his much-loved friends.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years; son, Scott (Allyson) Berberich; granddaughters, Zella and Clara.

He was further preceded in death by his sister, Carol Joan Watson, stepfather, Norman Krueger, and cousin, Jack Hume.

The family asks that memorial contributions be sent to the American Heart Association.

Services are Saturday, Oct. 1, at noon at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. Visitation for family and friends is Oct. 1 at the funeral home from 10 a.m., until the time of service.
