Marian D. (Barta) Mehring, 91, died peacefully Oct. 15, 2016, at Holy Family Villa in Palos Park, Ill. She was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Feb. 9, 1925, to the late Charles and Nellie (McCarthy) Barta.
Her mother died in 1930 and then her father married Helen Biskup. She was a 1943 graduate of Immaculate Conception High School in Cedar Rapids.
She married Eugene Mehring at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Burlington. The couple lived in Burlington until 1957, then moved to Orland Park, Ill. Marian was a restaurant hostess for many years. She was a former member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Burlington and current member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Palos Park, Ill.
Survivors include her children, Stephen, Carol (Michael) Meaniach, Barbara, Jane and Thomas Mehring; grandchildren, Michelle, Matthew and Alex; three great-grandchildren, sister, Betty Peieters; other relatives and friends.
She was further preceded in death by her stepmother, and brother, Chuck.
Visitation is Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 5-7 p.m., at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 440 Kendall St., Burlington. Burial will be in the church cemetery following Mass.
