EVAN M. EIDSVOOG


Evan M. Eidsvoog, 89, Waterford, died Feb. 10, 2012, at Waterford Senior Living. He was born in Williston, N.D., on Oct. 23, 1922, to the late John and Helga (Sorlie) Eidsvoog.

He enlisted in the Air Force where he was an airplane mechanic and gunner, serving 50 missions during World War II in the European Theatre. He graduated from North Dakota University with an electrical and mechanical engineering degree.

On Oct. 16, 1956, he married Ruth Leiler in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in Iowa, Texas, New Berlin, and in Waterford since 1972.

He worked for Texas Instruments and retired from Bear Automation in New Berlin. He was inspirational in designing electrical components and assisted with securing nine U.S. patents for his electrical designs. He was an avid golfer and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Rick (Sandi), Miles (Linda), Evonne Elsenbroek, Renee Gall and Amy (David) Reich; grandchildren, Kristin, Erin, Miles Jr., Jon, Bret and Kayla; sisters, Doris Montgomery and Amy (Wendell) Bauste; other relatives and friends.

He was further preceded in death by his wife: one sister; and three brothers.

A memorial visitation is Thursday, Feb. 16, from  5-7 p.m. at Mealy Funeral Home, 225 W. Main St., Waterford. Services are Friday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m., at Rochester Cemetery with military honors to follow.

In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family suggests memorials to either  Disabled American Veterans, or University of North Dakota Foundation.
