The Waterford Union High School boys and girls track & field teams each posted top three finishes April 22 in the Randy Lyons Invite at Whitewater High School.
The girls finished second and the boys came in third.
Waterford competed Thursday at Union Grove High School in the Racine County Track Invite. The Wolverines compete May 2 in a varsity quadrangular on their home track.
Waterford girls track & field coach Michele Sittig called the Lyons Invite a beautiful day for personal bests.
“Our relays performed particularly well, as we took home gold in the 4×1, 4×4, and 4×8.” Sittig said. “Impressive would be an understatement in describing Haleigh Reindl’s performance.”
Reindl won the 800-meter run in 2:15.26. Reindl ran with Emma Karpinski, Olivia Busch and Melina Behl on Waterford’s first-place 4×400-meter relay (4:20.11) and with Jayda Obluck, Alyssa Rohner and Kacie Karczewski on the Wolverines’ first-place 4×800 relay (10:27.40).
Alyssa Rohner finished first in the 3,200 (13:36.65) and Behl, Maddie Bartol, Lauren Muffick and Karpinski won the 4×100 relay (52.55).
Maddie Bartol finished second in the 100 dash (13.56), Emily Nicholls finished second in the 100 hurdles (18.19) and Shaelyn Mullins finished second in the 3,200 (14:10.95).
Olivia Busch finished third in the long jump 15-8), Priscilla Gasiorowski finished third in the high jump (4-10) and Abby Kaul finished third in the shot put (29-11).
Coach Jody Johnsrud said the boys distance runners carried the day for Waterford, led by Josh Butscher. Butscher won the 800 (2:07.15) and 1,600 (4:47.78).
Cody Webster won the 300 hurdles (45.39).
Ian Marino finished second in the 1,600 (5:04.19) and Adam Schubring finished second in the 3,200 (10:42.93).
Dylan Persinske finished third in the 200 (23.58), Jack Duerst finished third in the 800 (2:11.58) and Tony Mastrocola finished third in the discus (102-4).
Schubring, Michael Durand, Dan Pankowski and Duerst finished third in the 4×800 relay (8:53.40).
“The boys team is successfully continuing its quest to get better every week by remaining focused and building off its previous performances,” Johnsrud said. “Our coaching staff is excited with the direction our team is going throughout the season.”
The Waterford girls scored 122 points, and lost the title to Franklin by one point despite missing several runners to Spring Break. Franklin scored 123 points.
The Waterford boys scored 92 points. Franklin won the boys meet (139).
