MAUREEN M. DEROSIER

Maureen M. DeRosier, 79, Burlington, died peacefully May 16, 2017, at her home. She was born Sept. 19, 1937, in Home Township, Sleepy Eye, Minn., to the late John and Anna (Kachelmeier) Ganske.

Maureen always had a soft spot in her heart for children and all she ever wanted to be was a mother. Her greatest pride was her children and grandchildren. She had a heart of gold with an endless forgiveness and ability to turn the other cheek. Her favorite pastimes were cleaning and being outside gardening. She was happiest at home. She enjoyed, appreciated and celebrated the simple things in life. She loved to celebrate her birthday. She could always laugh at herself. Her two favorite phrases were, “Oh Lord, it’s hard to be humble” and “it isn’t easy being me.” She looks forward to being with her family in heaven.

Survivors include her children, Timothy (Jennifer) DeRosier, Burlington, Colleen (George) Farmer, Mukwonago, Renae (Tom) Woellert, Elkhorn, Ann (Roman) Tomal, Burlington, her unofficial adopted son, Nole (Jeannine) Short, Carlsbad, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Colette Van De Bogert, Elkhorn, Lyle Ganske, Brea, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Karen Ganske, Sleepy Eye, Minn., Alice (Jim) Weishan, Cambria, Jean (Jack) Coxm Mundelein, Ill.; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was further preceded in death by her siblings, Lois Flor, Mildred Linnihan, Joan Jensen, Mary Jane Koessler, Jim Ganske and Tom Ganske.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Charles Catholic Church with the Rev. James Volkert presiding. Visitation for family and friends is May 20, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 Browns Lake Drive, Burlington. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL 60601   [email protected].

A special thank you goes out to her special friend, Doug Amon, her neighbors, Chaplain Greg Price, and Beth Derks and the hospice team of Aurora At Home Hospice.
