NANCY JO BALL

Nancy Jo Ball, (Gehrand), 80, died peacefully on May 16, 2017, at her Rochester home of 55 years. She was born March 26, 1937, in Union Grove, to the late Leslie and Sarah Gehrand.

In addition to being raised and educated in Union Grove, it was there that she married Eugene Ball on August 5, 1961. They made their home in Rochester and raised three sons. Her working career was spent at Insinkerator in Racine and Sta-Rite and Foster Forbes in Burlington.

She was well known in the Rochester-Burlington area. As a naturally social person, she had friends everywhere from grocery stores to area restaurants. She was a gifted cook and enjoyed caring for pets and raising her chickens, as well as maintaining her many flowers and birdfeeders. She will be fondly remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne (Kelly), David (Kim) and Steve; grandchildren, Tyler (Sammi Lee), Samantha, Abigail, Emily, and Hailey; siblings, Shirley Gunderson, Chuck (Charlotte) Gehrand, Mary (Jack) Strouf, David (Dee) Gehrand and Robert (Ellen) Gehrand; nieces; nephews; and friends. She will also be missed by her canine friends, Waylon and Millie.

She was further preceded in death by her husband who died in September 2016.

Nancy requested a private interment service to be held at a later date. In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, memorials made to First Congregational Church of Rochester, P.O. Box 8, Rochester, WI 53167 would be appreciated.

Nancy’s family is grateful to all her family and friends who have offered their support in many various ways, from sending flowers, making food, or by just being there. A special thank you goes to caregivers of Aurora Hospice of Burlington whose support during Nancy’s, as well as Eugene’s, final days are appreciated more than they will ever know. The service they provide is invaluable.

Mealy Funeral Home, Inc., Waterford, is serving the family.
