John J. Maltby Jr., 93, Burlington, formerly Elkhorn, died May 25, 2017, at his home. He was born July 25, 1923, in Oak Park, Ill., to the late John Sr. and Helen (Baker) Maltby.
He married Ruth E. Nickelson on March 9, 1946, in Elmhurst, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a general contractor and owner of Carp Construction.
Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years; children, Ellen Sue Douglas, Canada, John (Linda) Maltby, Burlington, Janis (Jerry) Henning, Minn.; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was further preceded in death by his sister, Helen Sue Stormont.
Memorial service is Tuesday, May 30, at 11 a.m., at Roselawn Memory Gardens, 3045 State Road 67, Lake Geneva. Visitation is Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., until service time at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Haase-Lockwood & Associates Funeral Home and Crematory, Elkhorn, is serving the family.
