The season came to an end Tuesday for the Waterford Union High School boys tennis team.

No one from the Wolverines advanced out of a WIAA Division 1 subsectional tournament hosted by Waukesha North at the Heyer/Woyahn Complex in Waukesha.

Those who reached the semifinals at No. 1 singles or No. 1 doubles and those who reached the finals in Nos. 2, 3 and 4 singles or Nos. 2 and 3 doubles advanced to the Waukesha South sectional tournament Wednesday at Heyer Park in Waukesha.

The Wolverines lost 5-2 in a dual meet to the Warriors May 17 at Muskego. It was the final dual meet of the Wolverines’ season.

“It was a tough match for doubles, against strong opponents,” Waterford coach Mike Schuster said. “The singles competed well, with big wins from the Fay brothers.”

At No. 1 singles, Waterford’s Sam Fay beat Muskego’s Evan Slonac 6-4, 7-5. Josh Fay, playing at No. 3 singles, beat the Warriors’ Jiameng Zhou 6-1, 6-4.

Waterford finished with an overall record of 7-6 in dual meets.
