DANIEL R. HAYES, JR.

Daniel R. Hayes, 71, of Burlington passed away on Sunday June 4. 2017, at his cabin in Camp Douglas.

He was born on May 7, 1946, to Daniel R. and Charlotte (Mironas) Hayes in Chicago, Ill. His early life was spent in Chicago where he attended elementary and high school. He served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Following his return from Vietnam, he moved to Wisconsin and made his home in Burlington. He had been a member of the Burlington Lions Club. He was an avid car enthusiast. He loved anything and everything about cars and auto racing. He enjoyed taking his cars to local car shows. Most of all, Dan loved his family

Dan is survived by this children, Daniel (Danyel) Hayes of Burlington, Richard (Susan) Hayes of Burlington, and Kelly (Michael) Herwald of Lake Geneva, his grandchildren Wyatt and Abbey Hayes, Zachary, Megan and Jackson Hayes, and Lindsey and Colten Herwald, his mother Charlotte Hayes of Hampshire, Ill., brother Russell (Jacqueline) Hayes of Burlington and sister Catherine (Douglas) Brouwer of Hampshire, Ill. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel R. Hayes, Sr

Burial will take place on Friday, June 16th, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. The family will be celebrating Dan’s love of cars by driving his cars from the burial to a Celebration of Life at Meyer Park Barn (26900 Meyer Drive, Wind Lake).   Please join them by driving your classic car, collector car, hot rod, motorcycle or the vehicle of your choosing in the ride.
